Today, we reflect on one of the most profound truths found in Scripture: *God is love*. This is not simply one of God’s characteristics—it is His very essence. To say that God is love means that His every action is motivated by love. This divine love is foundational, shaping how God relates to His creation and how we, as believers, are called to relate to one another.
The love of God is not abstract, distant, or passive. It is active, personal, and sacrificial. As the passage reveals, God’s love was manifested by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, to be the propitiation for our sins. The cross stands as the ultimate demonstration of love. Jesus’s sacrifice was not an act of convenience but a profound statement of the depth of God's love for humanity. His love is not based on what we do but rather on who He is.
